I say to myself i am going to be like that. Yes, life is short and everyday should be lived to the fullest.

I also read that Ray Lewis (the 37 year old Middle Linebacker for the Ravens who plays like he's 23) goes 110% on every time he lifts. Every rep of every set he does, he pushes himself to the limit.

I tried doing that and failed. Motivation may be genetic.

So today i was supposed to go to work then hit the library to catch up on some articles in preparation for meeting with a Hopkins Professor who i am supposed to consult with in the future.

What do i do instead? I call in sick to work (wait i don't even call-in, i just skip). Watch Youtube videos all day and cook some food for myself to make me fat. I haven't gone to gym, whatever happened to getting ripped. Haven't finished an assignment that's overdue by 5 days! Professor is going to give me an incomplete.

Ughhh. Something needs to be changed. Watched a dangerous-love Korean movie. I am really watching a lot of movies that are about 'dangerous love'. The two new recent ones: LILA SAYS (French movie about a sexy blonde) and STUDENT SERVICES (Sexy girl who prostitutes herself to pay for college). Kinda sad movies i guess.

What else is new? Sheng Fu started his new blog @ http://suckingabigone.blogspost.com

Hope he keeps up with it so i have a partner in crime or whatever.

That's all for now people.

Even now. . .

Even now, I remember her lying in bed;
naked and bare, weary from love making,
the sweet words came in jumbled sounds she whispered faintly.
And now her memory torments me unceasingly.
-Bilhana The Love Thief

I thought i hated poetry?? The city is tiring yet rewarding. After grueling hours of walking just to get that Mahmoun's burger or Sharavana Bhavan , you are rewarded with some of the best food in your life. I guess its worth it. Not really sure though because the week is tiring enough and all this walking is making me feel more tired.

Anyways, thinking of starting a new blog dedicated to exposing this fallacy of a free-market (which is indeed a fictitious entity). Was inspired partially by currently watching the premier of this new movie, Mann vs. Ford, detailing the Ford Company dumping an ungodly amount of toxic materials on Native American property in Manhattan :( http://www.northjersey.com/arts_entertainment/125703938_Ramapoughs__fight_against_Ford_detailed.html

Additionally, the notion that there is a "free-market" that is devoid of interference from any outside forces such as: complexity, economic mal-adaptations, human greed and selfishness, and more importantly human bounded rationality is highly preposterous. Rethinking the free market involves rethinking causality.

The way you attack the free-market dream is not by challenging economic literary evidence or budget data or other economic data, but by attacking its simplistic view of causality. Once you show the interdependency between numerous force fields and their effects on economic systems, you have connected the "social" to the "economic", which is the greatest fear of all free market theorists.

Can a market stay in equilibrium when social forces are collapsing, or monopoly power has seeped in, or consumer voice has been suppressed, or even, no rational actors are involved? Certainly something to be examined in greater detail.

Its only 10.00 PM and i'm back home !

Great day at work. A short day. Did the 6.45am to 10.00 pm shift.

Also, great weekend in NYC. More good Indian and Turkish food. More scenic views and such. But also another grueling weekend with lots of driving, walking, and carrying stuff in the city. Now back in Myerstown. In Pitt next week, wooho.

On another note, the US economy is in shambles, in fact we just experienced a 'lost decade' like Japan did a few years back. We are struggling with debt and entitlement spending, yet the US has produced all major innovations along with Japan and Germany in the last 10 years including: Facebook, Blogger, Youtube, Broadband Internet, Smartphone, iPod, Windows products, Android, and others . . .

Theories of China's supremacy in the next 10-20 years are laughable. US economy is 2 times the Chinese economy with less than 30% of China's population. . . The biggest competitors to the US economy (even at their worst) are the Europeans and the Japanese. Manufacturing supremacy does not equal innovation. Neither do hoards of cash. It is only making the wallets of US corporation bigger, who will at some point have to hire again in the US. Arguably, the United States will continue to be the largest economy and enjoy robust corporate sector growth over the next 25 years.

50 years from now the landscape may drastically change but don't believe all the losers who project imminence.

1.44 AM and another all-nighter but with some erotic poetry . .

Almost forgot what a great poet/writer Kalidasa is. Maybe it was the stroll i enjoyed in Inner Habor or the best home made Italian food I've ever had, or Hampden's (my neighborhood's) quaintness, but it was nice to be back.

It was equally nice watching Djokovic take apart Nadal in a scintillating display of skill, mental toughness, and overall bravado. Novak Djokovic is now the favorite for the US Open and i hope he wins it. Despite being a huge Federer fan, i think its time for others to win a few. Novak has been at the cusp of greatness for so many years and now its great to watch him fully realize his potential, even going beyond himself actually. His metaphorical undressing of Nadal this weekend showed that at his best, he can scramble faster than Nadal (who would have thought), hit serves bigger than Federer, and volley like John McEnroe (not-quite but still good enough).

I pen (type) this blog from Union Square in New York city and realize how much i love the big apple. Hands down the best city in the US of A to get quality food, enjoy lovely sights around the city, and engage in all sorts of debauchery. Here are a few glimpses from my earlier visit this morning to Washington Square Park.

The great Friedrich Nietzsche once said,

“Out of damp and gloomy days, out of solitude, out of loveless words directed at us, conclusions grow up in us like fungus: one morning they are there, we know not how, and they gaze upon us, morose and gray. Woe to the thinker who is not the gardener but only the soil of the plants that grow in him.”

This quote completely disproves Rational Choice Theory and the Efficient Market Hypothesis. Nietzsche here is talking about conclusions growing within us before we are consciously aware of them. Do we have rational choice over what we think, when conclusions are growing within us like fungus? I doubt it. Human agency and ability to rationally break down concepts is overrated.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://tejaskiptomylou.blogspot.com/2011/07/i-love-new-york-city-oh-and-baltimore.html' title='I love New York city. . . Love how Republicans are for cutting waste including: police-officer pay, workers pensions, health care for children, senior citizens, and the poor, and other highly important benefits for hard working Americans , but refuse to close tax loopholes/subsidies for highly profitable oil companies and wall-street firms. It baffles me how multi-million dollar firms are eligible for all types of subsidies and the average American wage hasn't increased in over 20 years ! Talk about moving towards a plutocracy. That's exactly where we are heading. The government no longer regulates private industry. Private industry regulates government.
